2003 Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley

Vineyard selection for this wine was from the Great Oaks Vineyard in Santa Ynez where heat and long hang times dominate the area. The deep extraction from these grapes in the glass is lamost like ink running down the sides, yet the wine has wonderful clarity. On the palette you experience deep dark berries with healthy oak and bold, yet soft, tannins. The wine fills your mouth with full richness and good weight. Lingering berries and smoke dominate the finish. The wine has a hint of sweetness yet is fermented dry. Excellent alone or with your favorite BBQ. Rich Cajun foods are excellent with Syrah.
