Harvest Festival 2008

Another year and another fabulous Harvest Festival at Rancho Sisquoc Winery & Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley off Foxen Canyon Road! For additional information about the Vintners' Association see their website here. As you can see in the title image, the sky was clear, the parking area was absolutely maxed out and everyone was busy sampling wine and food, listening to the bands and bidding on the wine auction at the top of the hill. It was cool enough to be pleasant in the sun and warm enough for a light jacket in the shade.

Carolyn and Tom did the pouring

Because we were also involved in the Passport events this year, Alicia and John were hanging out at the tasting room while Carolyn and Tom handled the pouring and discussions with our tasters at the booth. Dan and Bridget and Bennie couldn't make it due to other commitments, but Matt was also cruising around.

We were pouring 2005 Sauvignon Blanc, 2005 Chardonnay and 2004 Syrah Santa Barbara County. And as with the more recent Vintners Association events there was plenty of food to be had from many of the valley's better establishments ... here's a gallery of the festival!

The Far Western brought their trailer and lots of beef.
Trattoria Grappolo brought a fine meatball and tomato dish.
The Willows at the Chumash Casino Resort had their usual unusually elegant dishes.
The Meadows from the Royal Scandinavian Inn brought their "Sliders"
Flatbread from Los Alamos
The Hitching Post from Buellton

There were plenty of clothes available to commemorate the occasion.

A grand time was had by all by the time everyone was filing out to the buses and their cars. There are a lot of great memories from this year's Harvest Festival.
